The leshen and the woodpecker

The Leshy is a Slavic guardian of the forest, a shapeshifting spirit that takes the form of a tall man, wolf, bear, owl, or wind, for example. Its appearance (height and size) depends on the height of the tree stand. It often wears a forester's uniform and can imitate animal voices, acting neutrally or menacingly towards people depending on their respect for nature, guiding or misleading travelers. Ravens, in this symbolism, often acted as messengers of souls and were associated with deities. Here is my depiction of the Leshy. The work was painted in Photoshop.
