Liczyrzepa

The legend of Liczyrzepa (Mountain Spirit) tells of his kidnapping of a princess who, out of boredom, ordered him to count all the turnips in the Karkonosze Mountains in order to escape. During the counting, she fled, and he, tricked, was given the nickname Liczyrzepa, which is often associated with his earlier, more demonic image resembling a deer or goat with antlers and a tail, as well as with his later, more gentle image of an old man with a staff who guards the mountains and helps people.
